Literál Issue #1: Market Stories (Journal, 2026)

Literál by Carmen Art District is a CDO-based arts & criticism journal dedicated to promoting critical conversations on local and translocal issues on art, culture, and society today. The journal urges everyone to look beyond what is ‘normal’ or ‘literal’ through discursive ways of reimagining the world outside our preconceived modes of how it is made. We are concerned with thinking that comes undone and is refashioned through uncanny ways of world-making where the minute and the peripheralized takes center stage and traditional thought itself becomes defamiliarized, comes apart, and is remade.

The first issue of the journal is forthcoming this mid-2026.

HÚLAD R•X: Northern Mindanao Zine Fest

HÚLAD R•X: Northern Mindanao Zine Fest is an independently organized zine fest in Northern Mindanao catered to promoting local literature vis-à-vis zine culture in Region X. The event was established to foster a space for local writers, collectives, artists, and its readers to connect, discuss, and contribute to elevating the local literary arts scene in the region. The event aims to highlight the zine as a potent medium of dissent, documentation, and personal and/or collective expression for a wide range of voices and topics including those that are peripheralized and marginalized from mainstream literary production.

So We Must Meet / Apart (Zine, 2024)

“So We Must Meet / Apart” is an experimental collaborative project on Vince Imbat’s walking methodology vis-à-vis Jessa C. Suganob’s epistolary writing poetics. Inspired by Gabrielle Bates and Jennifer S. Cheng’s collaborative work of the same name, it is comprised of epistolary essays written by Vince Imbat (from Los Baños) and Jessa C. Suganob (from Cagayan de Oro/Misamis Oriental) during their walks. Both writers decided to only send their letters to each other after the experiment. The letters are then followed by an afterword where the walker-writers conversed about the synthesis of their respective individual practices.

This zine was chosen as one of the finalists in Big Other Readers' Choice Awards 2024.
